<div>What first comes to mind when you envision Barbie and Ken? Maybe the visions of the perfect couple, a match made in heaven. A symbol for little girls everywhere that there is hope for finding their very own prince Charming. So what happens when that dream is shattered? <br/> In case you haven’t already heard, Barbie and Ken have officially broken up,. What’s worse is, Barbie has run off with some other guy, and is insulting Ken by splashing him with water in front of all her friends, as well on national television. What is this teaching young girls? It teaches them that there is no such thing as a perfect relationship, and that boys are worthless and replaceable. Although some can argue that it shows that not all relationships are perfect, and that there is life after love, it makes Barbie seem like a superficial brat instead of the role model for young girls she was once viewed as. <br/> Barbie has gone through several serious changes in the recent few years. She has gone from being a doctor, a presidential candidate, an astronaut, and whatever else she wanted to do, to being a McDonald’s employee and spending her free time as a pathetic rat at the mall, or being a lousy beach bum and hanging around worthless superficial friends. It seems as if all they care about anymore is boys and clothes, without ever stopping to think about the people they are affecting. They now insult Ken and rub into his face the fact that Barbie threw him out onto the curb like an old pair of jeans in replacement of a new miniskirt. <br/> What else is next? Is Midge, Barbie’s best friend, and now a loving wife and mother, going to cheat on her husband, Alan, with Ken, ruining a friendship that has lasted throughout the decades, and tearing apart a family and marriage? Or will it be the other way around. With all of the gay activism going around, perhaps Alan will discover his true colors and come out of the closet to run off with Ken. Perhaps my assumptions are a bit radical, but who would have ever thought that Barbie and Ken would break up in the first place? <br/> There are so many possibilities for the future of the world of Barbie. The changes have so far beer negative, deteriorating a young girl’s hope for the future, based on her outlook on Barbie. As long as Barbie continues to pretend to be a role model for young girls worldwide, the future doesn’t look good.
